Automated UV bonding and packaging process for medical sampling lines


Goal


As part of the UV GLUE project, a semi-automated UV bonding and packaging process for medical sampling lines is to be developed and implemented. The project aims to further improve production efficiency, increase manufacturing capacity and support a high level of process consistency for medical device manufacturing.

Motivation


The production of medical sampling lines requires precise bonding of filters, Luer connectors and special plastic tubing. Today, these established manufacturing steps involve a significant amount of manual work and detailed operator handling. With increasing customer demand, the production process is to be further developed in order to support higher output, more efficient workflows and improved scalability.

The project therefore focuses on the continuous improvement of an existing and proven manufacturing process, while maintaining the high quality standards required for medical device production.

Solution approach


The project will introduce a modular semi-automated process concept for UV bonding and subsequent packaging. The new setup will support controlled positioning, UV curing and process documentation of the bonding steps. In addition, the packaging process will be further optimized by integrating automated sealing, labelling and preparation for final inspection.
